Ceramic vessel 139073-7. Burial mound 139. Cemetery of Tútugi

Ceramic vessel 139073-7 of the burial mound 139 of the Iberian cemetery of Tutugi (Galera, Granada, Spain). Oxidising atmosphere. Red and black decoration. Hematite (Fe2O3) is responsible for red decoration. The black color is obtained from a manganese oxide, jacobsite (MnFe2O4) in this case. Jacobsite is the result of the transformation of pyrolusite (‎MnO2, the most common manganese ore) when firing temperature reaches 900ºC.
