Ceramic vessel. Burial mound 20. Cemetery of Tutugi

Ceramic fragment 20007-2 of the burial mound 20 of the Iberian cemetery of Tutugi (Galera, Granada, Spain). It is decorated with red and black lines and waves. Oxidising atmosphere. Hematite (Fe2O3) is responsible for red decoration. The black decoration is obtained with an oxide of manganese: jacobsite (MnFe2O4). The presence of jacobsite means a firing temperature achieving 900ºC.

Renishaw ‘in via’ Reflex Spectrometer coupled with a confocal Leica DM LM microscope (CICT, University of Jaén), equipped with a diode laser (785 nm, 300 mW), and a Peltier-cooled CCD detector, calibrated to the 520.5 cm-1 line of silicon.
